Now you see it, now you don't

Well, it's done. My little casa in the desert, Rancho Big Bend (seen here in its heyday in 2004) is no more. Most of you already know from just looking at the previous posts that my beloved modular home was slated for removal, and now it's finished and gone. As luck would have it -- I suppose -- I was able to be there when the big move took place and record it for posterity. I'll make this short and sweet. Here we go.

First, of course, they had to separate the two halves, as is evidenced here by the dark line running from the apex to the base.

Then, slowly but surely, they pushed the front half out of position to get it ready to hook up to the tow vehicle.

And there we have it -- two distinct halves of the building. My apartment was the one to the right. When I looked at it with binoculars, I could make out my kitchen and bathroom, complete with toilet seat up. (I didn't leave it that way.) You won't be able to see it that clearly here, even if you click on the image to enlarge it, but then who needs to see a toilet with the seat up, anyway? Every bathroom has one of those.

Now, here's a fun picture -- one in which you can see both doors to my house in the same frame. That's not something you can do every day. (This photo was taken with the digital zoom, hence the poor image quality. Don't ever use the digital zoom.)

And there we have it -- or, rather, don't have it. I thought for sure I had a photo of just the back half standing alone, but I guess not. Anyway, it's over and done with, so now I can stop looking over at my beloved rancho and pining. It's really better not to even see it at all. Adios, mi casita.
